There is a lot of noise right now about AI. How to use it, how to leverage it, how to stay ahead of it. And yes, AI has its place. But in the middle of all that conversation, something quieter is being lost and it is something that no algorithm can replicate.
Human connection.
The kind of human connection where someone actually sees you, understands what you are navigating and shows up for you. The kind that makes you feel less alone in the building of something you deeply care about.
We are living in a moment where content is more abundant than ever and yet genuine connection feels increasingly harder to find. And for women in business, especially those working from home and building around family life, that gap is being felt in a very real way.
The research backs it up and if you are serious about sustaining a business that actually feels good to be in, this is worth paying attention to.
Connection is not a luxury. It is a human need.
Psychologist Abraham Maslow placed belonging and connection as one of the five core human needs, sitting right alongside safety and survival. This was not a metaphor. It was a recognition that humans are wired for community and that without it, we do not simply feel lonely. We function less effectively in every area of life.
And yet, we keep treating connection as something we will get around to once the to do list is done.
For women in business, this tendency is especially pronounced. You are focused on your clients, your content, your income. Community feels like a nice extra rather than a necessity. But the data tells a different story.
The reality for women working from home
Remote and home based work has grown significantly over the past several years, and for many women in business it has brought freedom. No commute, flexibility around school hours, the ability to build something on your own terms.
But it has also brought a kind of quiet isolation that rarely gets talked about honestly.
A study found that loneliness is consistently one of the top three challenges reported by remote workers, alongside collaboration and communication difficulties. And while remote work suits many lifestyles beautifully, the absence of incidental human contact, the colleague you pass in the corridor, the conversation over lunch, creates a gap that many women do not even realise is affecting them until it has been there for a long time.
For mothers building businesses around school hours and family life, this is even more layered. The hours available to work are limited. Social interaction during those hours is often minimal. And the mental load of motherhood means that by the time the day is done, there is little energy left to seek out the kind of community that would genuinely fill the cup.
What AI is doing to our sense of connection
AI is a tool. Used well, it saves time, supports and removes friction from parts of running a business that used to take hours. There is nothing wrong with using it thoughtfully.
But something is happening to the online landscape as a result of widespread AI use and it is worth speaking about it.
Content is being produced at a scale and speed that the internet has never seen before. Social media feeds are increasingly populated with AI generated copy that might sound human but does not feel human. And as a result, trust is eroding. The sense that there is an actual person on the other side of a caption, an email or a piece of content is becoming harder to hold onto.
Trust in online content is at a historic low, with audiences becoming increasingly sceptical of what they consume digitally.
People are not just noticing the shift. They are feeling it.
And what they are craving in response is exactly what AI cannot manufacture. Genuine human presence, real stories, imperfect, honest, lived experience shared by someone who actually means it.
The more saturated the online world becomes with generated content, the more deeply people will seek out spaces and voices that feel truly human.
Why community is the strategy
If connection is a human need and isolation is a genuine challenge for women building businesses from home and AI is widening the gap between content and actual human presence, then community is not just a nice thing to have.
It is one of the smartest business decisions you can make.
Here is what genuine community does that no course, no strategy and no AI tool can replicate.
It removes the feeling of building alone. When you are surrounded by women who are navigating similar challenges, you stop carrying it all by yourself.
Talking through what you are stuck on with someone who gets it, whether that is a coach or a peer in the same season of business, creates breakthroughs that hours of solo thinking rarely produce.
People with strong community connections are better equipped to recover from setbacks, maintain motivation and sustain long term effort. In business terms, this is the difference between giving up at the first hard season and pushing through it.
Knowing that others are watching you, cheering for you and expecting to hear how it went is one of the most powerful motivators in existence.
And perhaps most importantly, it reminds you that you are not failing. You are simply human, doing a hard thing and you deserve support.
What community looks like
Not all community is created equal. There is a difference between being added to a Facebook group and actually feeling held by a community.
Community has presence. There are actual people showing up consistently, not just lurking or consuming.
Community has safety. You can say the honest thing, the vulnerable thing, the “I have no idea what I’m doing” thing, without fear of judgement.
Community has reciprocity. It flows both ways. You give and you receive. You celebrate others and you are celebrated in return.
Community has guidance. Especially in a business context, having a coach anchoring the space means you are not just venting into void. You are getting support, strategy and direction alongside the people who are in it with you.
This is the kind of community that actually changes things. Not just how you feel, but how your business grows.
This is why I created the Life Aligned Business® Mastermind
When I built the Life Aligned Business® Mastermind, community was not an afterthought. It was one of the core reasons the offer exists.
Because I kept seeing the same thing. Brilliant women, deeply committed to their businesses, trying to figure it all out alone. Surrounded by people in their personal lives who loved them but did not truly understand the specific weight of building a business around motherhood and limited hours and the constant pull between worlds.
They did not need more information. They needed a place to belong.
Inside the Life Aligned Business® Mastermind you get fortnightly group coaching calls where we work through what is actually happening in your business, not just theory.
You get WhatsApp support for the moments between calls when you need a sounding board, a reality check or just someone to say “you’ve got this.”
You get access to trainings, tools and resources designed for the season of business and life you are actually in. And you get a community of women who show up for each other in a way that is genuinely rare.
This is not a group where people post and disappear. This is a space where women are seen, supported, and celebrated consistently.
Can’t wait to welcome you in.
