For a long time, I believed that being “consistent” in business meant constant output.
Posting all the time.
Always showing up.
Always doing more.
And if I slowed down? I told myself I was falling behind.
But after years of running a business through wildly different life seasons, becoming a mum, navigating health challenges, supporting my family, shifting priorities, evolving as a human, I’ve learned something important:
A sustainable business doesn’t require constant output.
It requires alignment.
There’s a narrative in the online space that success comes from hustle. From being visible at all times. From pushing through tiredness, overwhelm and low capacity because “that’s what it takes”.
But that version of success isn’t designed for real life.
It doesn’t account for school holidays.
Or emotional seasons.
Or health, family or simply being human.
Trying to run your business as if every season is a high-energy growth phase is one of the fastest ways to burn out and disconnect from the very life your business was meant to support.
Your business doesn’t need to look the same all year round.
In fact, it shouldn’t.
There are seasons where growth feels natural.
You have ideas, momentum, energy. You want to be visible. You want to expand.
There are seasons of maintenance.
Where your focus is on serving your clients, refining systems, keeping things steady and protecting what you’ve already built.
And then there are seasons of rest.
Where your capacity is lower, your focus shifts inward and life requires more of you.
None of these seasons are wrong.
None of them mean your business is failing.
They’re all part of a sustainable, Life Aligned Business® rhythm.
When you’re in a quieter or lower capacity season, it can feel uncomfortable, especially if you’re measuring success by visibility or output.
But quieter seasons are often where the most important work happens.
This is where you reconnect with your priorities.
Where you notice what no longer fits.
Where you strengthen foundations instead of chasing growth.
It’s where clarity deepens.
Where alignment returns.
Where the next version of your business begins to take shape, even if it’s not obvious yet.
Pulling back doesn’t mean disappearing.
It means being intentional with where your energy goes.
A business that relies on you being “on” all the time isn’t sustainable.
A business that can breathe with you, expand when you have capacity and soften when you don’t, is.
Sustainability looks like:
This is what life aligned leadership actually looks like.
Not pushing harder.
But leading with awareness, honesty and self trust.
The most powerful question you can ask yourself isn’t “How do I do more?”
It’s:
What season am I in right now and what does my business need to look like to support that?
When you stop forcing growth in seasons that are asking for rest or maintenance, everything shifts. The pressure lifts. The guilt softens. And your business starts to feel supportive again, instead of demanding.
You don’t need to hustle your way through every chapter.
You’re allowed to build a business that meets you where you are.
If you’re reading this and recognising yourself in a quieter season, know this:
You’re not behind.
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re building something sustainable.
So take a moment and check in with yourself.
Which season are you in right now, growth, maintenance or rest?
And more importantly, does your business currently support your life or demand from it?
