How I step away from my business for school holidays

(without everything falling apart)

The school holidays have officially kicked off here and I’m stepping into full Mum mode for the next two weeks.

But here’s the magic – I’m able to hit pause in my business without feeling guilty, stressed, or like everything is going to come crumbling down.

Why?
Because I’ve built a Life Aligned Business™ a business that supports my lifestyle, my values and what’s most important to me … not just my income goals.

My kids are 8 and 12 now.
And I know this chapter – the one where they still want to spend time with me, where holidays are filled with laughter and beach days and movie nights – won’t last forever.

So I’m choosing to be present.

I’m choosing to honour this season of motherhood, without sacrificing the business I’ve worked so hard to build.

But I didn’t just hope my business would survive without me.
I planned for it.

Here’s how I step away without it all falling apart:

1. I batch and schedule everything in advance

Yes, everything from social media to podcast episodes, emails to blog posts – it’s all done and scheduled before school holidays hit.

I’ve learned that future me is always grateful when present me plans ahead.

This doesn’t mean hustling hard. It means working smart.
→ I batch record podcast episodes
→ I schedule out my weekly emails
→ I create and schedule posts so my audience still hears from me – even while I’m off grid

It’s about building consistency without the pressure of being “on” all the time.

2. I’ve built systems that support ease + flow

My business isn’t held together with duct tape and good intentions anymore (been there, done that).

Now, I have clear workflows, automations, and tools that keep things moving when I’m not actively at my desk.

From my email sequences to my project management tools – everything is set up to work without me micromanaging it.

This is what time freedom looks like behind the scenes.

3. Client delivery is designed with freedom in mind

Yes, I’m still supporting my clients over the holidays – but in a way that works for me.

My containers are intentionally spacious.
My clients know they’re supported, and I show up in pockets of time that fit around my life.

Because let’s be real: I love what I do.
Serving my clients gives me life – so I choose to check in here and there, without it taking over.

This is the beautiful balance of presence and purpose.
